Jon is a Professor of Water Science at Griffith University and Deputy Director of the Australian Rivers Institute. His research expertise includes:

  • the role of land use and climate in changing channel morphology and sediment production in Australian rivers and catchments;
  • the application of stable isotope tracing in the study of aquatic ecosystems;
  • targeting river rehabilitation using sediment and nutrient tracing;
  • the geomorphology of rivers; and
  • optical dating.

During the first phase of TRaCK research, Jon was the theme leader for water, sediment & nutrients, and has contributed to final outputs from the synthesis and adoption year as part of TRaCK’s research executive committee.
